A Simple Marketing Plan For People Who Don’t Like Marketing

I don’t seek out being the centre of attention in my personal life, so it makes sense that I’ve had a love-hate relationship with marketing during my time in business.

I’ve gone through phases where I’ve spent hundreds of dollars a month on Facebook, Google and Instagram ads and followed that up with years of doing nothing.

After a 14-month hiatus from writing after publishing The Rules of Recomposition in 2020, I’ve been back writing articles on Medium, sending my weekly newsletter and posting content on social media.

Before November, the last post on Integrated Fitness & Nutrition’s Facebook page was in December 2017. After a long period without use, I deleted the Instagram page, so I needed to start a fresh one.

I try to view marketing as a means to an end. Building awareness is an integral part of operating a business, and it doesn’t matter whether you enjoy doing it or not. For example, I don’t particularly appreciate doing my taxes or reviewing insurance to ensure I’m adequately covered, but I do it anyway.
