I Am Weird — I Like Drinking Water

I am lucky that I enjoy the taste, texture and refreshment of drinking plain old tap water, which means I have never had an issue with hydration. I would genuinely prefer a cold glass of water over a soft drink or juice and this is all to do with taste and refreshment, nothing to do with sugar intake.

While this might make me sound like the person who ‘doesn’t like chocolate’ and loses weight easily, the downside of my proclivity for H2O is that I visit the bathroom with a greater frequency than most, much to the chagrin of my girlfriend when we are out in public.

Over the past few years, I have learned that a large number of my clients are the opposite — they either dislike the taste or texture of water or at best they are apathetic to it, and it is common for them to go an entire day without drinking a single glass.

Maintaining hydration has a raft of benefits for both physical and cognitive performance. But I don’t want to get into the reasons for staying hydrated right now, I want to focus on how strategies to keep fluid intake up.
