I agree that BMI might not be ideal to measure an individual’s health status and your recommendations would all provide more personalised insights. Something like waist circumference might be better suited to an individual as well.
In saying that, BMI works quite well on a population level, which is wherein it’s intended use lies. It is very difficult to pick a single metric to assess the health of a population, but BMI does a good job. It is much better than relying on weight alone!
