There Are No Good Or Bad Foods For Weight Loss
No food is intrinsically ‘good’ or ‘bad’, they are simply food. The suitability of a particular food for an individual’s weight loss depends on their energy requirements, goals and what the rest of their diet looks like.
A burger with fries might not be the best option to consume for dinner every single night, but if you factor the energy intake into your energy budget, there is no reason you cannot consume this meal each week and still lose weight.
On the other hand, Greek yoghurt is often seen as a ‘good food’, but consuming 200g for dessert, after already hitting your energy intake target for the day, is not a good option for weight loss goals.
The key to weight loss is managing your energy balance. No food in isolation is going to promote weight loss without the creation of an energy deficit, whereby more energy is expended than consumed.
You could achieve this by fasting until 12 pm and consuming all of your food prior to 8 pm.
You could achieve this by eating small meals throughout the day because it helps you control your intake by never getting too hungry.
You could achieve this by eating high or low carb because the food choices suit your taste and keep you feeling full throughout the day.
