This is a really interesting article!

I remember reading about an experiment run by researchers to better understand those who believe in many conspiracy theories. Personally, I think they fact that they believe in so many different conspiracies — not one or two — is fascinating itself.

Anyway, they told all of these people that the government had installed monitoring devices in smoke detectors all across the country (I think it was in Germany) and then asked these people whether they believed it or not. However, the question was asked in two different ways.

First, they said what was happening and that the majority of the population knew about it and was OK with it.

Secondly, they said that only a few people knew about it.

What was fascinating is that when it was phrased in a way that is was common knowledge, less of them believed it compared to when it was the minority. The researchers essentially said that many people who believe in conspiracy theories feel the need to be in the ‘woke’ minority, even when it contradicts their other beliefs.
