Writing Will Become Even More Important in the Metaverse

As we transition into a more digitised world or even the metaverse, if things go according to Mark Zuckerburg, I believe that writing is going to be more important than ever before.

I’ve been writing articles for my website and email list alongside magazines and Medium since 2014. It’s the primary form of marketing that I used to grow awareness when I was starting out, and I can truly say I build my business on writing.

In the early days, my writing got traction on social media and especially Facebook. Taking the time to create posts with text and even sharing links to articles garnered good engagement and click through rates.

But this began to change around 2016. Facebook’s emphasis switched and video content soon became king. It didn’t matter how good the content was or if people engaged with it, if it was video content it was sitting in people’s feeds.

My well-written posts that took time to refine received little exposure while a video of me eating food receives thousands of views. I’m a Nutritionist and the video was about the importance of chewing for digestion, but it was still weird content.

I made videos for Facebook and Instagram for a year or so but it wasn’t my thing. I’m happy to speak on video but it’s the post-production work that…
